GREATER LONDON AREA - Route Developments

contracts (5 years, but extendable to 7 after good performance).
LLSA = routes on a London
Local Service Agreement, i.e. commercial or county-supported routes, with
TfL

= = when
appended to a day route number, this denotes a night service making the route a 24-hour service.
Where we show just a
"timetable change", there is no change to frequencies, types or allocation. Night buses commence on the
Friday night an hour or so before the Saturday date quoted. Routes all run
Daily unless stated.
LONDON BUSES - TENDERED ROUTES UPDATE
Unless stated, these are 5-year Quality Incentive
Contracts which, subject to good performance, may be extended from 5 to 7

company fleet, not necessarily those in current use on the route. ‘Existing
fleet' buses will usually be refurbished. In all Tranches now, bidders must
provide costs for diesel or hybrid buses, or a proportion of both.
Routes newly
awarded, some subject to final consultations

ROUTE AND SERVICE CHANGES
SUP-37Y
notes: At Arriva
London North, routes 144, 221, W3 and the Sunday 41 should be listed as VLW
type (the odd DLA does appear but fairly rarely). The 242/253/254 mixed DLA/VLW Daily.
Saturday 4th July: (additional to TLB539/540): L./General: (N)85 to 3 pvr (every night).
Saturday 11th July: The rerouteing of 118/127/201/280/N44 in Mitcham
(TLB538 p9 refers), having been deferred from 2nd May to 6th June then to 11th
July had still not occurred by late August.
Saturday 25th
July: 191 (First)
Timetable change deferred (to approx. 31 October).
Monday 10th August: 158, 308 – Sorry an aberration in TLB540 p9, the
rerouteing is of course via Crownfield Road not Chobham Road. Correctly shown on page 14.
Saturday 15th August:
258 (AtS) End of emergency schedules for Harrow Weald roadworks
(TLB539 p10 refers).
397, W14 (Arriva LN) Timetable changes, Mon-Fri (397) Daily
(W14).
Sunday 16th August (further to TLB538 p9 and TLB539 p8)
The latest
phase of the South Kensington rerouteings
was introduced on 16th August, so you can ignore the proposals dated for 27th
June and 8th August and replace with these. There should be one more phase to be done. When observed on
20th August, proper bus stops remained to be restored in some places, as had
publicity. Bus stops initially
contained no information on the changes, but this had been partly rectified
when noted on 28th.
14/=, 74/N74, 414, C1, N97 –
The temporary rerouteings formalised so that westbound buses now run via the
full length of Thurloe Place, which was made two-way and which included the
road closure of Thurloe Street (where the traditional pick-up stops were
outside the north side of the Station). New westbound
stops (S and T) are created in Thurloe Place (western end) more-or-less outside
the Station’s west side. Eastbound
buses now stop in Harrington Road (extreme east end) instead of Thurloe Place
opposite the Station, and then proceed up Cromwell Place, right into Cromwell
Road and past the V&A in Cromwell Gardens to Brompton Road.
49 No
further change at this stage.
70 Continues
to terminate (publicly) in Queens Gate, still stands in Harrington Road but
then departs via Harrington Road, Cromwell Place, Cromwell Road, Cromwell
Gardens to the V&A, a sharp right into Thurloe Place (full length), picking
up at Stop S by the Station.
345/= Now sets down in Harrington Road (east end), proceeds up
Cromwell Place and resumes using its former stand in Cromwell Road itself,
opposite the National History Museum, returning via Queensberry Place and
Harrington Road to its first pick-up in Onslow Square.
360 Now
uses Thurloe Place (west) in both directions, then direct to and from
Exhibition Road.
430 Now
sets down in Harrington Road as per 345, but now stands in Cromwell Place by
the French Govt. offices (where the 345 used to be), departing via the same
loop as the 70 (above), picking up at stop S. The old stand opposite the V&A in Cromwell Gardens is now
not used.
Saturday 22nd August:
79, 83/=, 224, 297/= The temporary rerouteing of 79/83/297 and curtailment of 224 ceased,
buses reverting to normal routes in Wembley from this date. Apparently, ‘emergency schedules’ had been in place on the 79,
83 and 297 (and also the 92 and 223).
209, 344/=, 417, 609 – as in TLB539.
273 The
conversion to fixed stops was deferred yet again.
Saturday 29th August:
5, N15 (East London) Proposed night-bus allocation changes (BW to WH) cancelled.
64, 205/=, 277/=, 521 – as in TLB539. Additionally:
64 (Metrobus) The emergency schedule in
operation since 18th July (TLB539 p9 refers) continued. Although Selsdon’s roadworks had
finished, more were due in Croydon and Thornton Heath!
118, 200, 453 (London General) Timetable changes, 118 (Daily), 200 (M-S), 453 (Night).
188 (Travel London) Emergency schedule for roadworks in Greenwich
(+1pvr for duration).
205/= (East London) There is an anomaly to the original contract intention,
which was merely to extend the route to Bow Garage. Buses now display ’Bow Church’ which they do not quite
reach, as they turn directly into Fairfield Road (for the Garage). On departure, though, buses do
circumnavigate the roundabout at the Bow flyover and thus actually pick up at
Bow Church!
298 (Arriva LN) The curtailment in Potters Bar is deferred once
again. (perhaps to November).
381 (Travel London) Emergency schedule for
two lot of roadworks in Southwark (+1pvr for the duration). The ‘East London Line’ extra
schedule remains in being.
507 (L.General) Sat & Sun allocation
transferred from RA to MW Garage.
683 (Arriva LN) Reallocated from Wood Green (WN) to Palmers Green (AD).

GREATER LONDON AREA - Route Developments
This section covers all local bus service routes of all operators within the London Buses (LBSL) area, i.e. within the Greater London County boundary. Fuller detail of any commercial or county services that enter London from outside will also be found in the Country Area Route Developments section later in TLB. LBSL services are identified thus: TG = tendered gross cost
contract (LBSL keeps the revenue, operators compete on costs).
QC = Quality Incentive
contracts (5 years, but extendable to 7 after good performance).
LLSA = routes on a London
Local Service Agreement, i.e. commercial or county-supported routes, with
TfL
ticket validity within London only.
LSP = London Service Permit
routes, i.e. those outside the formal TfL system.
pvr = peak vehicle
requirements, in M-F,Sat,Sun order, expressed as, e.g. "pvr 10/8/5".
R/No = running number
sequences (e.g.#BW261+); individual numbers expressed as, e.g. #35.
= = when
appended to a day route number, this denotes a night service making the route a 24-hour service.
Where we show just a
"timetable change", there is no change to frequencies, types or allocation. Night buses commence on the
Friday night an hour or so before the Saturday date quoted. Routes all run
Daily unless stated.
LONDON BUSES - TENDERED ROUTES UPDATE
Unless stated, these are 5-year Quality Incentive
Contracts which, subject to good performance, may be extended from 5 to 7
years. The new pvr for each route is as announced. When 'existing fleet
vehicles' are specified, this means compatible vehicles from the overall
company fleet, not necessarily those in current use on the route. ‘Existing
fleet' buses will usually be refurbished.
