What is LOTS?
LOTS was founded in summer 1964 (initially as the West London Omnibus Society) and quickly grew to become one of the largest transport enthusiast's societies in the UK. From the start, it produced a monthly newsletter detailing changes to London bus fleets and routes, with various other recurring and one-off publications added over the years.
Left: The first few newsletters were just one or two typed sheets, produced using a messy wax-stencil duplicator in the kitchen of one of the founding members.
Right: The newsletters soon became 'TLB' (The London Bus) and now feature colour photos and up to 60 pages each month.
A recent issue of TLB can be viewed as a
sample, while all editions more than 2 years old can be viewed and/or downloaded for free from the
Archive page. Many of our other titles can also be downloaded from there, while the newest titles can be bought from our
shop.
As well as producing lots of publications, LOTS holds regular meetings in central London, with talks and/or photo presentations on a variety of topics. Originally monthly, these are now held 4-5 times a year, and the current venue is very close to Farringdon Station with excellent transport connections. Details of upcoming meetings can be found in the
Events List.
Membership of LOTS is open to anyone and includes 12 issues of TLB each year, with the option of also taking the quarterly glossy 'London Bus Magazine'. For details on subscription prices, and how to join, click

Until recently, LOTS has only had a very limited online presence. This new website is the first stage in a process that will eventually see more of our publications, information and services made available digitally. However, we are also committed to keeping our traditional printed outputs going for as long as practical, for members who prefer them.
